While many couples return to their hometown for their wedding day, Ellie and Michael decided they would wed where they live now, in New York City. “New York is where we met, and although we have traveled a great deal together, some of our most memorable moments have been in NYC. It is truly a magical and romantic place.” Ellie tells Twirl New York.

The couple chose to wed in April and embraced the theme of the season, new beginnings, which tied in perfectly with their Persian ceremony. Wanting everyone to fully understand what they would witness at the ceremony, Ellie and Michael created a website to fully explain the Sofreh Aghd ceremony.

The wedding was held at the Harold Pratt House on 68th Street off Park Avenue. “It allowed guests to mix and mingle in its many rooms and it exuded a warmth, while marrying traditional and modern architectural elements,” Ellie explains.

And because the venue felt more like a home than a rental space, they didn’t have to decorate much, appreciating the beauty of what was already there. “Not only did it have all the beautiful elements we were looking for, but the space had an amazing team who helped us with planning our wedding,” the couple tells Twirl New York.

While the decor might have been minimal, possibly the most colorful and modern element was the choice to have bridesmaids don dresses in different shades of green. With a gradient palette that ranged from a deep emerald to a light mint, the group was told they could purchase their dress anywhere, as long as it was not jersey and was floor length. The pictures prove this made for beautiful group shots that look coordinated, chic, and celebrate the springtime.

For this couple whose goal was to have “a warm and inviting party that was fun, simple and elegant” it seems they got exactly what they wished for.
