PRIMP & POLISH
Downtown brides flock to this mani mecca for fashion-forward designs
Since it opened its doors in Brooklyn in 2010, Primp & Polish has been setting the standard for fashion-forward nail art in the city. Co-owners, and sisters, Lauren and Kieu Bui, with their team of manicurists, offer up a wide range of colors and hand-polished designs.
With over 1000 shades to choose from, and an Instagram account (follow them @primpnpolish) filled with a portfolio of their work, brides, bridesmaids, and even guests, will have plenty of inspiration to choose from. You can also view their online galleries, which include geometric, glam, and flower designs.
If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind design for your wedding day, (and honeymoon since gel manicures can last between two and four weeks), you can work with the company’s nail art specialists to design something that’s inspired by your wedding gown, palette, theme or anything else you can think of.
Brides can schedule a mani-pedi party at any of the four Brooklyn locations. Each salon serves up complimentary wine and party hosts can bring in treats for their guests to enjoy and decorations to create a more festive atmosphere. With enough notice, they can even order your favorite wines. And with multiple locations, your guest list isn’t limited since management can bring in additional manicurists to ensure that no one has to wait their turn. Brides will also receive a complimentary spa upgrade on their treatment.
Twirl Tip: If you’re getting married in a warm-weather month, or just looking for a fun day out with the girls, the Bedford Avenue location has a garden in the back with pedicure chairs so you can relax outdoors while getting your pedi.
Walk-ins are welcome, but with some designs taking well over an hour to paint, it’s better to call, email or use their online appointment system to make an appointment.
We have even created one-of-a-kind designs inspired by a bride’s wedding dress. —Lauren Bui
