CORNELIA SPA AT THE SURREY
The Cornelia Spa at the Surrey is as classic as it gets, but here’s something you might not know: they have what’s called considered moments, which are lunchtime, late day or last minute appointments available in 30 minutes. Whether it’s a mini facial or honey skin smoother, these treatments will get you glowing and out the door in no time. Plus, named one of the best spas to get a massage by Details magazine, they know how to pamper a man as much as a woman. For those of you with a groom who is anti-spa, with treats in the room like cookies and cognac, you might just get enthusiasm for that couples massage you’ve always wanted to try.
THE RED DOOR ELIZABETH ARDEN
With multiple locations in the city, the flagship is our preferred fave, because it’s near stellar shopping and offers medispa treatments as well as the usual spa fare. Red Door offers brides multiple packages with recommendations of when to have which service. Think of it as your bridal spa treatment countdown: 6,4 and 2 months prior to the wedding they suggest the Sitting Pretty package (focusing on purifying and soothing services), and at 5, 3 and 1 month before the Red Door experts recommend the Just For You package, which is all about hydrating and relaxing. And of course, there are even more options for the days leading up to the big event that would leave you looking renewed and refreshed.
THE GUERLAIN SPA AT THE WALDORF ASTORIA
Named as SpaFinder Wellness 365 Readers’ Choice as Best Urban Hotel Spa, The Guerlain Spa at The Waldorf Towers is fully stocked with some of our favorite Guerlain products — remember Terracotta? “the benchmark of all bronzers” and Shalimar? The 1st oriental fragrance for women, ever — and customized services. You know you are destined to relax, renew and rejuvenate in old school, yet first class style. With all of the treatments you’d expect in a spa that is 14,000 square feet, plus special pre- and post-nuptial packages, there is sure to be something for the bride to be, her besties and fiance. We’re partial to the “Love The One You’re With” package ($545) that features side-by-side 80 minute massages in a suite equipped with dual rain showerheads and private steam room, champagne and decadent truffles. Yum.
We all know this chain with catchy phrases, great products and yummy snacks in the waiting room, but it’s these very things that keep us coming back. From the punny (products with cutesy names but are dead-on great), to the yummy (don’t you just love those brownies?) Bliss just nails the details (see, we can do it too!). And did you know about all of their pre-wedding options for brides, grooms, the ‘maids and even their moms? Designed to “make the entire bridal party look and feel their best,” you can save 20% on packages that are totally decadent! A mixture of massages, facials, manis, pedis and more, these treatments are sure to leave you relaxed and rejuvenated while psyched about the bargain too!
THE SPA AT THE MANDARIN ORIENTAL
Sure, a lot of spas offer individual and couples treatments, but what makes The Spa at the Mandarin Oriental stand out are the 650-square-foot private VIP suites. The first of its kind in New York, they are made to look and feel like a home with gorgeous views, a fireplace, elevated bath, dual massage beds and a relaxation bed. Perfect for any number of spa experiences, the room offers space to relax side by side in couples’ baths, have lunch, and so much more. With over 25 varieties of facials, massages, body scrubs and wraps, manicures, pedicures and more, there is something for everyone at this wellness spa. Just keep in mind this isn’t for the bargain hunter, as a 50-minute oriental essence massage will run you $225. And that’s during the week – weekend prices run higher. For an unforgettable experience that might break the bank, but will fix your back, try this ultimate indulgence.
SHIBUI AT THE GREENWICH HOTEL For those who love to get pampered downtown, look no further than the Shibui Spa at The Greenwich Hotel. It’s all about balance—of traditional and modern of nature and the city. You’re guaranteed to feel as if you’re not in this great metropolis, but in a good way. With all plant-based products and a commitment to using traditional as well as contemporary healing techniques, the technicians here are dedicated to helping you release tension, and enjoy your time there. Beauty expert Kimara Ahnert (hyperlink to her twirl list) names this as one of the best spas in the city–maybe it’s the lantern-lit swimming pool and lounge under the roof of a 250-year old wood and bamboo farmhouse that has been reconstructed in the hotel that keeps her coming back.
