Having lived all over the country, Tamara and Andrew take pride in their ties to various cities, but it’s New York City, which they feel is the greatest city in the world. And so it was the perfect city in which to be married. They picked their venue, The Bowery Hotel, because it had all of the qualities they were looking for: a mixture of indoor and out, light and dark, old and new.

They wanted their wedding to highlight their varied cultural backgrounds and urban influences: Andrew’s side brought Colombian, French, and Cuban flavor, while Tamara’s side brought Korean, Chinese, and Taiwanese flair. Their friends were also Jewish, Russian, Indian, and South American. Their Korean Christian ceremony was led by the pastor from Tamara’s family’s church, and a Latin jazz trio performed during cocktail hour, to further highlight their various cultures.

We wanted our wedding to celebrate the intimacy of our love, our friends and family.—Tamara

I don’t think we expected the ceremony to be as touching and moving as it was. Expressing our emotions through vows, in front of everyone, and hearing each other recite them back, was a really special moment.—Tamara

One of the couple’s most special moments of the day included their first look reveal.

Tamara walked out from the Bowery Hotel doors feeling like a million bucks, as onlookers smiled but yet gave her privacy, “in a very New York way: The doormen held these big brass doors open, as I headed down to the street corner, where I could see the entire bridal party but not Andrew, who was hiding behind the wall. As I approached the corner and met eyes with him, I melted.”
