The It Wedding Gowns for Spring 2017

The “It” Gowns for Spring 2017

We checked in with the top NYC bridal buyers for their must-have gown of the season

We wouldn’t want to be a buyer during New York Bridal Market.  With more and more top designers introducing bridal collections each season and the thousands of dresses that come down the runways, how in the world do they ever choose what is right for their salons?  After every season of bridal market, we ask the buyers and fashion directors from top boutiques, which was the one dress from the runway they have to have in their store and why.  Here are their picks for Spring 2017 (and here are ours!):

Sania Recupero, Manager of The Wedding Salon of Manhasset

“I would say the Grace gown by Oscar de la Renta.  It epitomizes the look of a true bride.  She is classic and timeless.  A look we love to sell in our salon.”

Mark Ingram, Mark Ingram Atelier

“My staff and I all adored the new collection from Pallas Couture from Australia.  My favorite was the Musette gown, it combines so many wonderful elements in a new a unique way.  It is sexy with a deep V in the front and a bare back, yet it has a demure and playful A-line circle skirt.  Perfect for twirling!”

Alison Luciano, Owner of The Plumed Serpent Bridal

“One of my favorite gowns we saw at this past market was Jonquil from Anne Barge.  We loved how on trend it was without being trendy.  The illusion neckline, the lace sleeves and the soft, drapey skirt all work together beautifully. This gown would also look good on so many different figures.  It’s classic without being boring and modern without being too fashion forward.

Leigh & Tori Mardovitch, Co-owners of Harbor Bridal

Lela Rose absolutely stunned us with her Spring 2017 collection. We wanted every single piece for our store! That being said, our favorite gown was The Altar. The thin spaghetti straps and floral embroidery on the bodice and skirt create a delicate, feminine feel that our brides love. The A-Line silhouette with a natural waistline and the soft, warm ivory underlay are sure to be flattering on many different brides. Lela is an expert at creating modern yet timeless, classic pieces, and The Altar certainly doesn’t disappoint. ”

Elise Forest-Rosenblum, Sales Director at Panache Bridal New York

The gown that we chose is Entenza by YolanCris. We chose it because as you can see the elements in the gown lend itself to many different aspects of bridal couture. It is glamorous, unique, and high quality. It can be vintage, couture and the workmanship is pristine . Very much which Panache stands for.”
