How do you know when you’ve met the one? Rita knew after her first date with David, because as she say, she felt at ease and it didn’t take any effort to maintain a conversation. After two years, David spoke with her parents about his intention to propose and planned a private proposal to pop the question. The pair decided on a beautiful formal affair at Gotham Hall for the spring.

When the day finally arrived, Rita scheduled a relaxing morning where the bride and groom could get ready in a relaxed atmosphere and take advantage of the warm weather for their portraits. “We began getting ready at the Royalton Hotel in separate suites early Sunday morning, and enjoyed breakfast and champagne, and coffee,” she explains. “The photographer arrived mid-day and escorted us to our first look outside the hotel, where we were joined by sailors in town for Fleet Week. We then walked to Bryant Park and the New York Public Library for an outdoor photo shoot on our way to Gotham Hall – one of our favorite parts of the day! Once there, family started arriving for the signing of the ketubah, and before we knew it, we were walking down the aisle!”

For the bride’s gown, Rita knew exactly what she was looking for, and found it at an Inbal Dror trunk show at the Mark Ingram Atelier. “I knew from the second I put it on that it made me feel glamorous and that I would walk down the aisle in it,” she tells Twirl New York. “Being that I’m Israeli, the fact that the designer is Israeli was close to my heart.”

The traditional wedding was formal with bridesmaids donning black gowns and the groomsmen in black tuxedos, but it was the flowers that Rita calls a game changer. Meredith Perez from Belle Fleur created a chuppah made out of white phalaenopsis orchids to match the bride’s bouquet. “As guests arrived they were escorted into the main hall for the wedding ceremony, and were able to socialize at the bar for some drinks and passed hors d’oeuvres before it began,” Rita recalls. “It was like a fairy tale, having a chuppah in the round with lucite columns and white orchids draping the top and candles. It really set the tone.”

Rita and David wanted the evening to be centered on the party, and their desires must have been accomplished, because according to one guest, their wedding was “a party first, and an elegant formal affair second.”

The reception was a blast. I don’t think we ever left the dance floor. —Rita

“We had always envisioned a very classy black-tie wedding, but conceptually didn’t want guests to feel restrained,” she adds. For the reception, the florals were vibrant pink centerpieces, giving the room a distinctly different feel from the ceremony. “It was breathtaking.”

The Steve Delisi Band from Hank Lane got everyone partying right away, and kept them right on the dance floor all night long. While a four-course dinner was served, the music kept going, which was one of the most important requests Rita and David made when they were planning their wedding. “Foremost RAM caterers really went all out,” shares the couple. The menu for the evening ended on the sweetest of notes when a dedicated dessert room opened featuring five different types of dessert buffets, including a crepe making station, gelato, cakes and cookies.

“Everything we had dreamed of truly came to life,” Rita says. “The night so perfectly defined us, and was the greatest way to celebrate our first evening as husband and wife.”
