Maureen & Evan

Maureen and Evan knew as soon as they saw the Yale Club in New York City it was the place they would marry. The bride tells Twirl New York it was the first venue they looked at they “fell in love with it at first sight.” From the carved ceilings to the beautiful windows, the couple couldn’t envision themselves getting married anywhere else. And so a Fall wedding was planned, with a black and white color palette, which would complement the venue, rather than take away from it. Touches of pink were added in honor of the bride’s deceased grandmother, who loved the color and she would have “appreciated the accents.”

To create a traditional and romantic feeling, Elegant Affairs used, what the bride calls, classic flowers and incorporated as many candles as possible, to make their wedding of over 200 hundred guests feel intimate. There were two different alternating arrangements on the reception tables. Half of the tables had a mix of the bride’s favorite white blooms while the other half had three tiered vases filled with different flowers surrounded by candles.

We loved the elaborate carved ceilings and beautiful windows. There was no where else we could see ourselves getting married after visiting the Yale Club. — Maureen

And while the decor was beautiful, the food was delicious and the music sounded great, the best part of the wedding for Maureen was seeing Evan for the first time that day. “We were so looking forward to celebrating with our friends and family, but just to have those few intimate moments to ourselves on our wedding day, to see him for the first time waiting on the bottom of the stairs for me, the first day of the rest of our lives as husband and wife.. it was just surreal.”
