For makeup that makes you look like you, at your very best
There are many makeup artists who are professional and do a good job. They make you look “natural” and give you waterproof mascara for those emotional moments during your ceremony. And then there’s Kimara Ahnert. Not only has she been applying makeup to both celebrity brides and the socialites for over 20 years, but it’s her demeanor and quiet confidence that makes women love getting beautified by her.
Let’s face it (no pun intended)—your wedding day can get stressful, so you want people around you who make you feel good. Enter Kimara. She and her team know their way around a lip brush and they enhance your best features, while playing down those you want to cover up. Kimara’s eponymous makeup line has shades and shades of foundations, blushes, concealers and eye shadows, along with lip colors, gel eye liners, brushes and other tools. All of her products are available at her Upper East Side salon, where you can also get facials, waxing and makeup trials and applications.
Having been in the business for decades Kimara knows the difference between a professional makeup application and DIY beauty. What’s the biggest reason to go to a pro? “It just stays,” she tells Twirl New York. Kimara doesn’t have a specific aesthetic, because makeup “is an individualized process and has to reflect you and your style. [I dont want to be predictable] but still want the bride to look like the best version of herself.”
“I want the bride to look like the best version of herself. —Kimara”
Kimara knows what you need to make your makeup last, and what the bride should carry during her reception for touch ups. (That’s concealer, blotting powder and whatever you put on your lips). In case you’re wondering, with this team doing your makeup you shouldn’t need to touch up your eyes at all.
The best compliment Kimara has ever gotten from a bride? “Usually after the ceremony, after I’ve touched up the bride for the final time, the bride says, ‘you really have to leave now? You mean you’re not staying?’ It’s a nice feeling.”
You might have heard about Kimara because she’s been featured in BRIDES, Harper’s Bazaar and Town & Country Weddings, among other publications.
Prices for wedding day makeup application starts at $700 for Kimara on location, for up to three people. For customized makeup services, email email@example.com.
