For a stylish editorial look this Brooklyn-based photographer is who you want shooting your wedding
“I’m not a wedding factory,” photographer Heather Waraksa tells Twirl New York. “I like to approach each day artfully, and want each Collection to seem as if it could have been torn from the pages of a magazine.”
Heather attracts a clientele who wants a refined wedding devoid of glitz or showiness. “They are anything but cookie cutter,” she says of her clients. “They are relaxed and have an appreciation for aesthetics. They want their wedding and themselves to appear and feel effortless.”
There’s a real romance to her work. Her photos convey the beauty of the day, both the love and the details. It’s no surprise that she topped Harper’s Bazaar’s Little Black Book of Top Wedding Photographers, and has been featured in all your favorite wedding mags and sites. Her clients have raved about their wedding photos (you can read their Kind Words here), but what stands out to us, is how she captures everything, even when the couple doesn’t realize it. It’s those little moments that make you pause as you flip through her portfolio. You can feel the sentiment between the bride and groom, as well as the couple and their parents, and see the joy in the guests faces as they celebrate with the newlyweds.
“Along with the photos being beautiful, I want them to have heart.” — Heather Warkasa
As for the post-wedding process, Heather will curate the images from the day and work with you to design an album that has a nice flow to it and tells your story. She works with Queensberry out of New Zealand to create a beautiful presentation that you’re sure to treasure.
In addition to Bazaar, Heather was named one of the Top Wedding Photographers in the World by American Photo magazine. Her weddings have been published in BRIDES, Vogue and Town & Country.
Photographing weddings since 2005, and specializing in fine art photography, Heather customizes each wedding to fit the needs of the couple. She shoots between 15 and 25 events a year and works in New York as well as around the globe. In addition to weddings, she also photographs engagement portraits and styled shoots. Prices start at $9,000 for the wedding day.
