How A Sister Honors A Bride-to-Be

When Stacey Pillsdorf was asked to be matron of honor at her sister Julie’s wedding, she knew that one of her many to-do’s would be to host the bridal shower. The contemporary affair, co-hosted by the sisters’ aunt, was held at the Rooftop at The NoMad Hotel and inspired by the bride’s interests and tastes.

Combining the hotel’s grand european style with an elegant color palette of white, grey, pinks, green and burgundy, the tone of the party was set: playful and romantic.

The maid-of-honor sent guests the Diamond Chalkboard bridal invitation from Minted, and asked that they bring a bottle of wine for the newlyweds for a personalized shower activity she was sure her sister and future brother-in-law would love.

It was so special to have all of Julie’s girlfriends and family, celebrating this happy time. — Stacey, Matron-of-Honor

Working with the creative team at Ariella New York, the long banquet table was set with a mix of pink and burgundy blooms. Guests enjoyed bite-sized hors d’ouerves before they were seated for a multi-course luncheon and enjoyed sweeping views of the New York skyline.

Keeping with bridal shower tradition, Stacey planned a number of activities including How Well Do You Know the Couple? and one that spoke to the bride and groom’s love of wine. Each guest named the bottle they brought with a creative title, and were encouraged to write a message on a hang tag explaining when Julie and Michael should drink that particular bottle. Clever titles included Fat Bastard (to open when he is behaving like one) to Layer Cake (to open on their first anniversary).

After enjoying a love-themed cake from Sweet Grace, guests were given lavender and rosemary sugar scrub, labeled “From Julie’s shower to yours.” to take home as a party favor, a nod to the bride’s love of body lotions and potions.

The venue was amazing! Absolutely breathtaking, perfect weather, delicious food and great company. — Julie, the Bride

This personalized and stylish affair went off without a hitch and set the bar high for future celebrations. Here’s hoping they can do future anniversary parties in such a meaningful and fun way.
