If you’re a foodie, chances are you’ve heard of Blue Hill. There are two locations, one restaurant in the city and one in Westchester. Both are leaders in the farm-to-table movement and are at the forefront of cutting edge cuisine. The latter is part of the Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture in Pocantico Hills, New York, which opened in the spring of 2004. Stone Barns Center is a working four-season farm and educational center just 30 miles north of New York City. Sourcing from the surrounding fields and pasture, as well as other local farms, Blue Hill at Stone Barns highlights the abundant resources of the Hudson Valley. There are no menus at Blue Hill at Stone Barns. Instead, guests are offered the multi-taste Grazing, Rooting, Pecking Menu featuring the best offerings from the field and market.
How does that translate to a wedding? When people ask us for a memorable location to get married outside of the city, we often ask what is most important to them. If the the food and the scenery top their list, Blue Hill at Stone Barns is one of the first we mention.
Perfect any time of the year, Blue Hill at Stone Barns offers private dining for up to 14 guests and hosts weddings in its HayLoft which seats 40 to 260 guests. Ceremonies can be accommodated on site, and their experienced events team can assist with all aspects of planning and coordination. Because the menu is so seasonally-based, a couple planning on getting married here should realize they can’t finalize their menu until the week of the wedding. “They insist on using the best and freshest ingredients for your dining experience,” explains James Abel, of James Abel Events, who has planned many celebrations there.
