After New York, we covered Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week to find the top gowns of the season

We were fortunate enough to travel to beautiful Barcelona, Spain to view the 2017 bridal collections during the annual Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week.  This large bridal market draws a huge international crowd for its runway shows followed by an expo for buyers from around the world.  There were many familiar themes—layers of lace, beading and tulle—and some not so familiar, vampires?!?  Naeem Khan was the featured American designer in Barcelona and he, like Israeli designer Galia Lahov, presented a “Best of” collection featuring highlights from their recent New York Bridal Fashion Week show as well as past New York shows.

The week of shows ended with a grand finale by Barcelona based Pronovias, the world’s largest bridal house.  Their over-the-top show was presented to an eager crowd of over 2,000 and featured top models such as Irina Shayk and Romee Strijd, more known for baring it all on the Victoria Secret’s runway than walking the aisle in bridal gowns.

Here are Twirl New York’s favorites from a fashionable week in Barcelona!

Rosa Clara, another international brand based in Barcelona, kicked off the week with a lovely collection with minimal, beautifully tailored gowns.  Our favorites were the shirt dresses, shown with three-quarter sleeves, sleeveless or with a mock neckline.  Rosa Clara is available at Panache New York and Wedding Atelier.

Cymbeline Paris brought a whimsical, Parisian feel to the runway.  With a lighter touch than many of the Spanish designers, their gowns blend architectural structure with fine laces.  We loved some of the dramatic backs and on-trend polka dot lace.  Cymbeline Paris is available at Panache New York

The sister duo YolanCris is perhaps the most fashion forward of the designers who showed in Barcelona.  Their collection had a ’70’s vibe with lots of fringe and low-slung belts.  The standouts though were these lovely A-line gowns with layers of delicate lace.  Just bare enough without being overtly nude, and we adore the cape!   YolanCris is available at Kleinfeld, Jahee Bridal and Panache New York

Marco and Maria, a design duo from the Canary Islands, showed a lovely collection of light, airy and romantic gowns.  Using a dusty color palette ranging from light blues and greens to white, the collection and styling truly stood out.  Marco and Maria is available at Kleinfeld and Jahee Bridal

Everything about the Pronovias Atelier Collection show was dramatic, from the large venue and the supermodels to the literally twinkling runway.  The dresses, from body hugging silk crepe columns, to large beaded ballgowns all contributed to the spectacle of the show.  Our favorite was a silk taffeta cape that floated like air over a high necked lace sheath.  Wow.  Pronovias Atelier collection is available at the Pronovias New York Flagship, Kleinfeld, Wedding Atelier, L’Fay Bridal and Panache New York.
