Wedding Signs for Your Wedding Ceremony

Creative ways to welcome your guests and direct them to your vows

More and more couples are directing traffic on their wedding day with creative wedding signs that naturally fit into the wedding’s setting and formality. While a wedding sign is technically a practical detail, don’t be afraid to let your sense of humor and personalities shine through. For a rustic wedding, paint directions on a wooden board.  A formal or more ornate setting calls for a gilded mirror, calligraphed with the necessary information, which can include your names, wedding date or a quote even.  Chalkboards, with the help have calligraphers and artists can be dressed up in all sorts of creative ways to tell guest where to go in both small and large sizes. Here are several wedding sign ideas  for your wedding cermeony.

SIMPLY STATED

This rustic-inspired wedding sign mixes serif and sans serif fonts on a wooden easel and simply state the name of the couple and the date for a casual yet modern vibe. The added greenery keeps the decor festive and soft. Design by Rock Paper Scissors. Floral by Ariel Dearie Flowers. Photo by Brian Hatton

REFLECTING ON THE NIGHT TO COME

A more formal affair might call for a mirror, but with tongue-in-cheek directions, humor is infused without being overbearing. This gilded mirror design lets guests know of all the fun that’s planned for the evening. Design by Rock Paper Scissors. Photo by Ira Lippke Studios

ORGANIC DESIGN

Create a setting that looks like it’s always been there, so that it doesn’t look too artificial, as Ed Libby did with this ceremony sign attached to an antique bike filled with lush greenery. Design by Ed Libby & Co.. Photo by Roey Yohai Photography

SCHOOLHOUSE ROCKS

Remember back in school when cleaning the erasers was a punishment? You’ll never want to eliminate chalk work like this. The elaborate design, placed at the wedding venue’s entrance, greets guests as they arrive. Sign by Andrea Casey. Photo by Melissa Schollaert Photography

ISN’T IT ROMANTIC

In addition to the lush floral decor accompanying the rustic furniture and details, a chalkboard with a romantic quote leans against the wedding ceremony entrance. The line could be included in various elements of the wedding, including the vows, invitation or program. Or perhaps it’s a one-off element that just brings a smile to guests’ faces, and makes a great photo op too! Photo by Erica Mae Photography
